Eadem Latino sermone reddita / Autore Immanuele Tremellio ... cuius etiam Grammatica Chaldaica et Syra calci operis adiecta est. [Geneva:] Henri Estienne II, 1569. 1 volume bound as 2. *6, A-Hhh6; a-q6, r-s4, t-ttt6; A-D6,E4. Greek, Hebrew and italic type, double column and marginalia, woodcut initials, printer’s device to title page. Tall folio (410 x 280 mm). Modern quarter morocco gilt. Lacking the three blanks and printer’s preface leaf usually wanting in most copies, lower margin of a1 repaired verso, title page lightly soiled, general light age toning, some spotting to final leaves, else a tall attractive copy with wide margins. First edition of the celebrated Estienne polyglot New Testament, with the dedication to Queen Elizabeth. The editor Immanuel Trimellius was a converted Jew from Ferrara who had taught Hebrew at Cambridge and was Professor at Heidelberg when this edition was printed. A monumental work.
