HMS Providence was a sloop of the Royal Navy, famous for being commanded by William Bligh on his second breadfruit voyage between 1791 and 1794. The voyage was an unqualified success and was recognized as such not only by the Royal Society of Arts but by the Jamaican House of Assembly, which rewarded Bligh with a purse of 1000 guineas.
