The Mausoleum of Amir Khusero, at the ancient city of Delhi (Abbey 420 no.82; Archer III, pl.6) A Baolee near the old city of Delhi (Abbey 420 no.94; Archer III, pl.18) View at Delhi, near the Mausoleum of Humaioon (Abbey 420 no.95; Archer III, pl.19) hand-coloured aquatints, December 1801, December 1802, February 1803. [all watermarked 'J.Whatman 1809'] thick paper, all close-shaved to plate-mark along lower margin, the first with light surface soiling to margin, the third with light spotting P.480 x 655mm.; 480 x 650mm.; 480 x 650mm. 16 February 1789: After reaching their camping grounds on the outskirts of Delhi, the Daniells admired the Mausoleum of the celebrated poet Amir Khusrau, "built of white marble, finely polished and finished with the utmost delicacy". Nearby, a large stepped well or baoli drew their attention. They visited the Humayun Mausoleum, that of the second Mughal emperor, son of Akbar, on 5 March 1789, later on during their stay in Delhi.
