Title: The Rules of Golf Illustrated Author: Crombie, Charles Place: [London] Publisher: [Golf Illustrated] / Perrier Water Date: [c.1905] Description: [50] pp. Includes 24 color lithograph plates by Charles Crombie 29x44.5 cm. (11½x17½"), original green cloth-backed boards, lettered in black and red. First Edition. A beautiful and fully intact copy of the book, a rare find. Charles Crombie (1885-1967) illustrates whimsical characters in nursery-rhyme style medieval clothes caught in impossible golfing situations. Each plate has a color printed ad for Perrier bottled water on the verso. A calligraphic pencil gift inscription from father to son, Geo. Fearing Allen, on the front free endpaper, dated 1912. The last leaf is a lithographed advertisement for Perrier Water. D&J C27250; D&M 13510. Lot Amendments Condition: Mild edge wear, spine ends a touch frayed; hinges reinforced with paper; else near fine. Item number: 215043
