First Edition. Inscribed by Baker on the front free endpaper: "to the Rome Stars & Stripes - with best wished to all my friends - Sgt. George Baker", with a sketch of the Sad Sack below. Prior to being drafted, Baker worked for Walt Disney assisting in the production of Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, and Bambi, his specialty was the animation of thunderstorms, waterfalls, and other effects. His wartime cartoon, The Sad Sack, originally appeared in the pages of Yank, The Army Weekly. Lot Amendments Condition: Lacking jacket, boards worn, amateur repairs to spine; a few pencil marks within; good. Item number: 258379
