Several issues report news from Revolutionary France, but the October issue contains a detailed account of the execution of Louis XVI (pp.246-256): "The executioner held up the bleeding head and the guards cried 'Vive la republique!'" Tipped into the July issue B. Baker's engraving of the "Plan of the City of Washington; now Building for the Metropolis of America, and established as the Permanent Residence of Congress after the Year 1800."
