THOMAS, William (d.1800). Original Designs in Architecture. London: for the author, 1783. 2° (551 x 385mm). 27 copper engraved plates, two of these hand-coloured. (Spotting.) Contemporary half calf (front cover detached, spine defective, extremities worn). Provenance : Hugh Lupus, 1st Duke of Westminster (1825-1899).

With two finely hand-coloured ceiling designs. Thomas employed three engravers who had worked on the Adams brothers’ Works in Architecture. Subscribers included many of the leading architects of the day, amongst them James Wyatt James Stuart Henry Holland Robert Adam and Sir William Chambers RIBA 3307; Millard British , 84; Harris 878.
