A mixed set, but with important provenance: vols. 1 and 3 are each inscribed by Thompson to "His Ex c y: Major Chancellor" on the title-page; vol. 5 is inscribed by Thomspson: "No. 2 to my dear wife from HYT Xmas 1916"; and vols 4 and 7 are THOMPSON'S OWN COPIES, each designated number "1" on the title and WITH HIS NOTES on endleaves and laid in, detailing who received copies of his catalogue, list of plate counts, some correspondence and photographs of manuscripts, etc. On the front pastedown of vol. 7 he notes the cost of printing and binding at the Chiswick press and Emery Walker's fee for illustrations. In addition, the volume numbers are indicated on the lower edges of Walker's copies. (7)
