Aged 81, later brooch fitting, length 2.8cm, 2nd: The 19th century oval brooch with a glazed compartment containing hairwork within a circular-cut onyx frame, length 2.4cm, 3rd: The late 18th / early 19th century navette-shaped ring featuring hairwork, within a triple tiered border of half pearls, royal blue enamel and beadwork, engraved MW, JC to the reverse, later band, ring size M (3) Records for Matthew Morley MD are difficult to trace however there is an entry for a Morley, Matthew MD who is listed in the 'Alumni Cantabrigienses' which lists all known students, graduates and holders of office from the University of Cambridge. He studied at Leyden University in Holland where he received his MD in 1728 and became a Fellow of the Royal Collage of Physicians. This entry lists his death as Mar. 17, 1784 however, a week earlier than inscribed on the memorial jewel.
