Letter informing the poet that he will receive a copy of "With Trumpet and Drum" shortly and that the person responsible for the receipt of his copy is "slow and pure as becometh a minion of a bloated monopoly." 5½x8¼. Tipped along one edge to stiff backing. Together three letters, each signed by Slason Thompson. Interesting little archive from the publisher to Eugene Field. Also included in the lot is a 2-page printed Private Circular dated February 23, 1889. It is about a two volume work of verse and prose by Eugene Field (presumably the very popular two-part set: "A Little Book of Western Verse" and "A Little Book of Profitable Tales") that will be published in a limited edition, the second page is an order form to be sent in to Slason Thompson.
