Title: Plantation Pageants Author: Harris, Joel Chandler Place: Boston Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Date: 1899 Description: [6], 247 pp. Illustrated with 20 plates (including frontispiece with tissue-guard) by E. Boyd Smith. 8¼x6, original decorative light green cloth, stamped in black and a cream-peach (skin color), front cover lettered in gilt and black, spine lettered in black, all edges colored a light yellow-green. First Edition. Inscribed and signed by the author on the front preliminary leaf: "Faithfully yours: Joel Chandler Harris." Bookplate of Frederick W. Skiff. BAL 7142. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine a bit darkened, slight shelf wear, mild rubbing; front hinge starting to split, previous owner's pencil note and bookplate on the front pastedown, original bookseller's small paper label; else near fine - overall an exceptionally clean and bright copy. Seldom seen in better condition. Item number: 155790
