Title: Treaties Between The United States And Delaware And Pottawatomie Tribes of Indians. Acts and Amendments In Regard to the Construction of a Railroad and Telegraph Line From the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean. Charters of the Leavenworth, Pawnee & Western Railroad Company, Etc. Etc. Author: ** Place: St. Louis Publisher: George Knapp & Co. Date: 1865 Description: 111 pp. Printed paper wrappers. The cover title is given; separate titles within. The first title reads "The Charters of the Leavenworth, Pawnee, and Western Railroad Company, and all the Laws of Kansas affecting its powers, duties, and liabilities. New York... 1864. Bibliographically, a very complicated piece. It would seem that the first 24 pages, titles as above, were printed in New York, and later bound with the remaining pages, containing the treaties and the 1862 act for the Pacific Railroad, with its amendments. These, it would seem were printed prior to early 1863, when the Leavenworth, Pawnee, and Western changed its name to the Union Pacific [Eastern Division]. These two were apparently combined, with new printed boards, in 1865, a part of the U.P. Eastern Division's continued promotion efforts for their more southern line. Of the greatest importance to the history of the Pacific Railroad, and one of the rarest pieces concerned with its early construction. Bureau of Railroad Economic Bibliography p.245, locates only the Interstate Commerce Commission copy. Lot Amendments Condition: Binding broken with cover and various pages throughout not attached, cover rubbed, creased, soiled and worn; toning, creasing, some chipping and wear throughout; else good. Item number: 161622
