TRUMAN, HARRY Signed Proclamation upon the Unconditional Surrender of Germany . Washington: 8 May 1945. Broadside document printed in colors and signed in ink "Harry Truman" at lower right, present at lower left is the original 1945 Christmas card from the President and Mrs. Truman (these Proclamations were presented as gifts) and at lower right the original red, white and blue ribbon. 21 x 13 3/4 inches (54 x 35.5 cm); framed. The signature very lightly faded to brown, the document evenly toned excepting the areas below the Christmas card and ribbon which are not toned, faint old stains to corners. Truman commemorates the official end of the war in Europe with an elegantly printed proclamation headed, "The Allied Armies, through sacrifice and devotion and with God's help have wrung from Germany a final and unconditional surrender." Rare at auction, we trace only one other copy retaining the original Christmas card and ribbon, presentations from the Trumans to close friends and associates. C
