Two boar-tusk netsuke By Jack Coutu (1924-2017), English, carved February 1991 (no.189) and January 1999 (no.288) The first carved in low relief with a leaf-cutting bee slicing through a leaf, behind the bee some dried moss of inlaid silver, the broad end plugged with boxwood, signed JC; the second carved in relief with a minogame (hairy-tailed tortoise) crawling towards the narrow tip, the eyes inlaid, its tail trailing into the boxwood plug at the broad end, signed JC; each with the artist's reference card.
