Baltic Fleet 1885, later service included Calcutta, Cape of Good Hope, Steel was a 'rare breed' of officer being a 2nd Lieutenant Engineer, his ships include HMS Arrogant, Superior, and a gun vessel HMS Assurance, his final voyage appears to be Madras to England, Spring 1859, after a period in hospital he is appointed an 'Inspector of Machinery'.
