Veuve-Clicquot, La Grande Dame--Vintage 1990
6 bottles per lot
VEUVE CLICQUOT GRANDE DAME Veuve Clicquot is amongst the most internationally recognized and respected of champagnes. The history of the house is closely intertwined with that of the evolution of sparkling wine, as many strides towards perfecting the quality of sparkling wine were first discovered at Veuve Clicquot. Cuvee La Grande Dame is named after the famed widow Nicole-Barbe Clicquot-Ponsardin who is credited with raising the quality level of Veuve Clicquot to a grand marque. First launched in 1977 to celebrate the firm's bicentenary, the champagne received immediate prestige and every vintage produced continues to rival the region's top cuvees. A blend of chardonnay and pinot noir grapes, the Grande Dame is produced exclusively from the eight grand cru vineyards originally owned by the woman herself. On the palate it remains true to its namesake as one of the richest, powerful, and yet elegant and feminine cuvees in the world.
