VIRGINIA] A Collection of all such Public Acts of the General Assembly, and Ordinances of the Conventions of Virginia, passed since the year 1768, as are now in force ... Richmond: Thomas Nicolson and William Prentis, 1785. Three-quarters brown morocco, cloth sides. 12 3/8 x 7 1/2 inches (31.5 x 19 cm); 235, [1] pp., collating [A]^(2) B-V^(2) W^(2) X-2V^(2) 2W^(2) 2X-3I^(2) [3K]^(2). Light binding wear, Bar Association stamp on title, occasional minor foxing or toning, generally a clean copy, the blank portion of the final leaf cut away. Brigadier-General George Weedon's copy, with his signature prominently displayed at the head of the title. An interesting association copy, as Weedon, who was from Fredericksburg, Virginia, was as a Brigadier General in the Continental Army and later in the Virginia militia, and had served under Washington during the French and Indian War. There are a number of extant Revolutionary War era letters from Washington to Weedon, including one congratulating him on successfully repelling a skirmish from the troops of the feared and reviled Banastree Tarleton at the Battle of Yorktown, who were attempting to keep open the British line of retreat. Evans 19351. C The New York City Bar Association
