Volnay, Clos des Ducs--Vintage 1989
8 bottles per lot
VOLNAY CLOS DES DUCS, D'ANGERVILLE More than most Burgundies, Domaine Marquis d'Angerville has an unusually loyal, even passionate, following. The elder Jacques D'Angerville was one of the pioneers of estate-bottled Burgundies and the D'Angerville's dedication to making refined Pinot Noirs from low yields and small berries have earned them the respect of many Burgundy aficionados and the admiration of their peers. Early on the d'Angervilles identified a low-yielding, small-berried clone of Pinot Noir in their own vineyards. Other growers adopted it, and it became locally known as the "d'Angerville clone." The domaine owns 37 acres of vineyards, most of which are in Volnay, and are premiers crus. The wines offered in these lots come from the pride of the Domaine, their 5.3-acre monopole vineyard, Clos des Ducs. This is a great opportunity to taste some of the Domaine's best wines from the great vintages of 1989 and 1990.
