Specht, Paris, 18 February 1841, thanking him for his fine translation of his latest 'Novelle', and asking him to return the original manuscript, one page, 4to , integral address leaf, framed and glazed. The 'Novellen' or articles Wagner wrote for the influential Revue et Gazette Musicale de Paris in 1841-42, together with musical hack-work also commissioned by the owner of the Revue , Maurice Schlesinger, were virtually the composer's only source of income during his stay in Paris.
