The anonymous authors are Henry James Finn (1785-1840), James W. Miller (d. 1829), Moses Whitney Jr. (1802-1844), and Oliver C. Wyman (1771-1830). Inserted ephemera includes the original contract for the publication, signed by Samuel Goodrich, aka Peter Parley, and dated Boston, November 15, 1827; a letter concerning the book written by Wyman; a Wyman poem, a notice of Whim Whams from an 1871 newspaper or journal; a notice of the auction of Goodrich's estate; an advertisement for his publications, and a clipped obituary of James Oakes from 1878.
