William Aiken Walker American, 1838-1921 Cotton Pickers in a Field Signed with conjoined letters WAWalker (ll) Oil on board 6 1/4 x 12 1/4 inches Provenance: Acquired by E. Jennie Briggs, Daytona, Florida, Feb. 1909 Thence by descent in the family to the present owner Robert M. Hicklin, Jr. considers this painting "typical of the artist's best work in this genre, though brighter than most." A letter of authentication from Mr. Hicklin accompanies this work.
Frame rubbing. 1/4'' loss at the lower left corner. 1/16'' loss and crease at lower right corner. Light surface dirt. Light discoloration at edges. Slight mottling in sky.
