THOMAS) AND SAMUEL HOWITT Oriental Field Sports; Being a Complete, Detailed, and Accurate Description of the Wild Sports of the East , London, for Edward Orme 1807, lge. oblong folio, first edition, hand-coloured aquatint additional title (duplicated on inside of upper cover), and 40 plates after WILLIAMSON by SAMUEL HOWITT (slight offsetting of plates, occasional light spotting), contemporary calf by L. STAAGEMEIER AND WELCHER, covers ruled and tooled in gilt and blind, with a gilt roll tool of a row of animals, comprising a peacock, a squirrel, a lion, a heron, a baboon, a stork, a dog, a cockerel, a deer, a hawk, a goat, a beehive and an owl, gilt inner dentelles of trailing oak leaves and acorns (neatly rebacked with a gilt spine, rubbed). [Nissen ZBI 4416; Schwerdt II p. 198 ' The most beautiful book on Indian sports in existence.'
