WW1 British Officers 1897 pattern Sword with fullered single edged blade with etched decoration to both sides with GRV Cypher, 823mm in length. Proof marked. Maker marked HTH Sheffield. Guard is engraved to "HP Stead, 4th/7th Middlesex Regt 25/8/15". Wire bound Shagreen grip. Overall length 975mm. No scabbard. (Research: Harold Percy Stead rose through the ranks from Private Soldier in the 14th London Regt and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. into the Middlesex Regt on the date engraved on the sword. Was later attatched to the RE and the Royal Warwickshire Regt.)
