Y AN UNUSUAL GEORGE III GONCALO ALVES CHEST ON CHEST CIRCA 1770 183.5cm high, 111.5cm wide, 53cm deep Condition Report: There are some marks, scratches, knocks, chips and abrasions consistent with age and use. The carcass is pine veneered in goncalo alves, as are the drawer fronts. There are losses and restorations including some later interior blocks; there are some patches, for example to one side, presumably from a small knot? and to one drawer front; a loose block behind one foot; the locks are probably later; there is no key, the locks are open; the drawers do not sit quite snugly in the recesses with some bowing so that some do not sit entirely flush and with variable gaps around them. The drawer linings are oak with some splitting. The backboards horizontal pine boards. There is some evidence of worm. The piece has a polish. Please refer to the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition. Condition Report Disclaimer
