12-inch Bardin Celestial Table Globe, with maker's credit Made by S.S. Edkins, son in Law to the late T.M. Bardin, Salisbury Sq., London and cartouche New Britfh (sic) Celestial Globe containing the exact positions of more than 3800 Fixd Stars, Nebulae, Planetary Nebulae &c. according to the Latest Discoveries and Observations of Dr. Maskelyne, Dr. Herschel and other eminent Astronomers, And corrected to the present period, made up of twelve engraved hand-colored gores laid to the ecliptic poles, the axis through the celestial poles, the Equinoctial graduated in Arabic and Roman numerals for hours and degrees, the constellations depicted as mythical beasts, the stars shown to seven order of magnitude and labeled in Greek, with printed southern polar hour ring with pointer, engraved brass northern polar hour ring, calibrated meridian full-circle, paper horizon ring illustrating the compass points, the Gregorian and Zodiacal calendars and sigils, on turned mahogany stand with curved supports, cabriole legs and original finish, ht. 24 in., (cracks, losses and abrasions to plaster and gores).
