1960 AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE MKI FROGEYE Registration No. BEL 33A Chassis No. AN5 27162 Engine No. 9 CUK 26930 Red with red interior interior Right hand drive The Austin-Healey Sprite made its debut in 1958. The MkI, known as the Frogeye, was a low-priced, fun car. The mechanical units mainly came from the Austin A35, but some came from the Morris Minor, such as the rear drum brakes. The engine was from the Morris Minor and this same engine eventually found its way into the Mini and a whole range of specials. In the same ownership since the mid 1960s, this Frogeye has been actively used for both Autocross driving tests and is a well known vehicle at trials in the West Country M.C.C events and A.C.T.C. classic trials. The engine has been bored out to 1,275cc and is freshly rebuilt and not yet run in. It is race prepared with a balanced engine, Kent cam, polished and ported head and a nitride crankshaft. It is thought to produce 100bhp. There is also a low ratio diff. The bodywork does require some attention and the carpets and part of the trim which were in a poor condition have been removed. There is a large history file which accompanies this competition prepared Frogeye.
