Porsche revived the Carrera name – previously used for the competition orientated versions of the preceding 356 model – for its luxuriously equipped, top-of-the-range 911 in 1973, applying the evocative title to all 911 variants, coinciding with the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine, from the start of the 1984 model year. Three basic models were available – coupé, targa and cabriolet. The Carrera is almost indistinguishable from the SC with the external clue being the front fog lights that were integrated into the front valance. Only cosmetic changes were made during the production of the Carrera, with a redesigned dash featuring larger air conditioning vents appearing in 1986. Finished in Electric blue with cream leather interior, this matching numbers UK-delivered 911 Carrera was purchased by its current owner in 2013. Destined to remain in the family, the current owner has spent a whopping £33,000 on the car over the years, and some of the works included a bare-metal respray, inner and outer seals being replaced and leather seats being fully refurbished. All bills and receipts are included in the history file, alongside additional invoices from the previous owner, both sets of keys and a fresh MOT that expires in April 2018. The last full service has been carried out by Tower Porsche, London in September 2015 which included the fitting of 2x new oil pipes, new front oil cooler, new hood, gearbox and new passenger-side window regulator. Other parts fitted in the last two years include; new starter motor, new alternator, engine fan and pulley, and new driver’s side window regulator. Having been meticulously serviced and well looked after, the exterior of the car is also described to be in immaculate condition. On the button and with its fully operation hood, this car is ready to be enjoyed in the forthcoming summer months! A true head turner that is not only a fun car to drive, but also a great investment opportunity, especially considering the money that has been invested since 2013. A reluctant private sale and not to be missed.
