Launched officially at the Geneva Salon in 1995, the first GTV/Spiders of the '916' generation cars were manufactured at Alfa Romeo's plant in Milan. Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina penned the low slung wedge design with high 'kamm tail' which delivered slippery aerodynamics and striking lines to the new Grand Turismo Veloce (GTV) earning countless prestigious design awards from a spectrum of motoring journalists. Characteristically the car features concealed headlamps, designed in conjunction with Carello, mounted beneath a clamshell bonnet with illumination port-holes. Build quality was notably a close match to its German rivals and the GTV helped considerably with rejuvenating Alfa Romeo's reputation for beautiful design and quality crafted sportscars. Our V6 3.0 GTV is an early Phase Two car meaning it benefits from a six-speed manual gearbox and the slightly higher output (220bhp) V6 engine which was down-rated when production moved to Pininfarina in 2000 to meet new Euro standards. Ordered in September 1998 by Lord & Lady Sverdloff in Leicestershire via D.J. Demades & Sons in Cyprus, specification included Verde Sargassi Metallic paintwork, tan Momo leather interior, factory 'Aero' tail spoiler and remote locking alarm. According to Alfa Romeo's Manufacturing Certificate of Conformity, manufacture was completed on 1st October 1998 with registration in Cyprus 26th November. Arrival in the UK was 18th December 1998 with first registration declared in February 1999. It has been used sparingly, always garaged and remains unmodified. Importantly the cambelt and tensioners were last replaced in September 2013 (4,700 miles since) and the MoT test certificate runs through to March 2016. The car comes with Key Code Card with four keys including the brown 'Master Key', owner's handbook/s wallet and a substantial service history file, including 11 MOT's. The car's condition and driving performance reflects its low mileage and diligent upkeep. This represents the top of the range example of Alfa Romeo's highly acclaimed GTV which would be at home in any Latin thoroughbred collection.
