1998 Bentley Continental T Coupé Registration no. A5 JWD Chassis no. SCBZU26C1WCH67006 Engine no. 9241L410M-TTW • Supplied new in the UK to a Middle Eastern crown prince • Unique specification • Present ownership since 2010 • Extensive service history • Circa 60,000 miles from new FootnotesIntroduced in June 1996, the Bentley Continental T was a short-wheelbase version of the Continental R. With 400bhp at its disposal and crouching aggressively on 18" wheels, the low-slung Continental T looked every inch the thoroughbred Bentley sports car. Despite weighing as much as two Ford Mondeo 1.8s, the luxuriously appointed Continental T was certainly no slouch, racing to 60mph in a tyre-shredding 5.8 seconds on its way to a (governor limited) top speed of 156mph. First registered in November 1997, this gorgeous 1998-model Bentley Continental T was supplied new to a Middle Eastern crown prince by H R Owen at a cost of some £250,000. The Bentley was kept in air-conditioned storage in Hampstead, London and over the course of its first four years covered only 1,486 miles. In 2002 H R Owen sold the car to its second owner, a wealthy businessman, who registered it on his private plate, '2 MAD'. The second owner sold the Bentley in November 2005, by which time it had covered a further 27,000 miles, and the new owner re-registered the car as '45 WO'. The current vendor purchased the Continental (now registered 'R451 VLK') at a UK auction in September 2010, the recorded mileage at that time being 46,000. Uniquely well specified, the Bentley is finished in Black Sapphire Mica with black-piped Champagne hide upholstery, while the centre console, rear parcel shelf, headlining and lower portion of the dashboard are likewise trimmed in Champagne hide. Other factory-fitted departures from standard specification include highly figured burr walnut; fully veneered door cappings; body coloured door mirror supports; body coloured headlamp surrounds; and steering wheel hub, grip, and airbag in Black Sapphire hide. This fine example has been lovingly maintained throughout its life (as evidenced by its superb condition) and comes with extensive service history and all owner's manuals and handbooks. The Bentley was serviced initially by H R Owen followed by JCT 600 and Graeme Hunt Ltd, and while in the vendor's care has been maintained by Specialist Cars (Exeter), the most recent service being undertaken in May 2018 at 58,000 miles (the current odometer reading is circa 60,000 miles). Related bills are on file and the car also comes with copies of the factory build sheets, original purchase invoice, warranty, Bentley snagging sheets, etc. A fresh MoT will have been obtained in March 2022. An unmatched combination of hand built exclusivity and supercar performance, this fastidiously maintained Bentley Continental T is ready to delight the fortunate next owner.
