Classic Car Auctions says: The Mercedes SLK (R170) was introduced in April 1996 and featured an engineering masterpiece, its 'Vario-Roof', which resurrected the trend for electric folding hardtops for smaller cars. With styling clearly based on its larger sibling, the R129, Mercedes' mini-SL was an instant hit in both Europe and the United States. In February 2000, the SLK received a facelift which included new front and rear bumper designs, body-coloured side skirts and new wing mirrors. X856 LOF is a 'facelift' car and is powered by the later 3.2 litre, 218bhp V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox. 'Waxoyled' from new and acquired by the vendor in September 2003, the car has only covered 14,300 miles and has always been garaged with a fitted dust cover, which probably explains its lovely condition. Finished in Mercedes Silver with a dramatic Red and Black interior this little Mercedes looks superb with unmarked wheels and new tyres.
