2013 Mercedes-Benz G 500 Cabriolet Final Edition Chassis no. WDB 463 202 1X21 5820 •One of only 200 made •4,062 kilometres from new •'As new' condition •Registered in Switzerland Fußnoten Introduced as long ago as 1979, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 'Geländewagen' (cross-country vehicle) was the result of a joint venture with Steyr-Daimler-Puch of Austria, a firm with considerable experience in developing four-wheel-drive systems for off-road vehicles. Its purposeful appearance – fundamentally unchanged throughout its life – and engineering excellence has secured the 'G-Wagen' cult status and earned it a reputation as one of the most coveted of classic 4x4s. Taking its cue from the rival Land Rover, the early G-Wagen was not luxurious by any means, featuring manually wound windows and fabric upholstery, but soon established a reputation for being able to traverse the most challenging terrain. For 1991 a revised (Type 463) chassis was introduced, incorporating the very latest in off-road traction technology in the form of three electronically engaged differentials in addition to anti-lock brakes. Cabin comfort had been improved in the late 1980s, but by the early 1990s Mercedes-Benz had recognised the growing market of 4x4 owners who valued style, luxury and power above ultimate off-road capability, and in 1993 introduced the limited-edition 500 GE, a 5.0-litre V8-powered model that took the G-Wagen into Range Rover territory. After two years in production, the 500 GE disappeared from the range, returning in 1998 as the G 500, again powered by a 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine. There have been countless updates to the Type 463 since then and a host of special and limited edition variants released; introduced to commemorate the end of G-Class Cabriolet production, the G 500 Cabriolet Final Edition offered here is one such. Distinguished by 'Final Edition 200' badges on the B-pillars, it is one of only 200 units built. Powered by a 5.5-litre V8 producing 383bhp, this most exclusive model was finished in Designo Platinum Black paintwork with Designo Sand hide interior and matching electrically folding soft-top. The generous level of standard equipment included electronic stability programme (ESP); Parktronic parking assistance; swing-away spare wheel carrier: xenon headlights, climate control air conditioning; electric windows and power-fold door mirrors; command navigation system; AMG performance steering wheel; stainless steel spare wheel cover; stainless steel side steps; and 18" five-spoke alloy wheels (including spare). Representing possibly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one of these rare and super-exclusive luxury 4x4s, this Mercedes-Benz G 500 Cabriolet Final Edition has covered only 4,062 kilometres and is presented in 'as new' condition. The car is offered with Swiss Carte Grise and technical inspection. VAT will be payable on the Hammer Price and Buyer's Premium at the standard rate if the car remains in Switzerland.
