A French silver-gilt travelling dressing-table service Maker's mark of Sergent Aîné, Paris, circa 1865, the flatware with maker's mark PQ a device between Engine-turned and with stylised foliage borders, each piece engraved with a coat-of-arms with coronet above, within plain circular cartouche, comprising; an oblong basin and hot-water ewer with detachable handle, a water-heater, stand and burner, with detachable part-ivory handle, a circular bowl, a beaker, two oblong glass boxes, a circular example and two bottles, each with detachable silver-gilt cover, a table-spoon, table-fork, teaspoon and table knife with steel blade, fully marked all in leather-covered and brass bound fitted case, the interior lined with claret-coloured velvet and with two drawers beneath the main tray, the front inlaind with geometric marquetry, the gilded-brass bands with fleur-de-lys terminals, with drop-ring handles and shaped lock-plate and hasp, the cover inset with a coat-of-arms with coronet above, the lock plate inscribed 'MAISON GIROUX THE BASIN 12IN.
