CIRCA 1765, GOLD ANCHOR MARKS, ONE COVER WITH GILT NO 5
A GARNITURE OF THREE CHELSEA-DERBY TURQUOISE-GROUND BOUGH-POTS AND PIERCED COVERS CIRCA 1765, GOLD ANCHOR MARKS, ONE COVER WITH GILT No 5 Each of bombé form and with moulded gilt scrolling foliage handles and feet, the fronts painted in the manner of Richard Askew with Diana and Actaeon with a hunting party in a wooded glade, Actaeon presenting her with a boar's head, the two side pots with dolphins and putti among waves and putti with a dove among clouds, the fronts flanked by concave panels gilt with entwined foliage, the reverses painted in the manner of Zachariah Boreman with figures in extensive wooded landscapes with buildings and a church, each within gilt oval cartouches, the pierced covers edged in gilding (centre pot with stained crack to top of left handle and slight crack to rim, dove pot with chipping to one back foot, left front foot repaired, dolphin foot with chipping to three feet, one cover with slight crack and piece restuck to flange of rim, another with two small chips to underside of flange) 9 in.
