A GESSO-PAINTED WOODEN FURNITURE FRAGMENT Ptolemaic, circa 3rd-1st Century B.C. Depicting in the main panel the King of Upper Egypt wearing the White crown and the King of Lower Egypt wearing the Red crown standing on either side of a locked shrine, their arms upraised in adoration offering a seated figure of Maat (Truth). In the panels above is a frieze of stars, a frieze of falcon-headed gods holding maat -feathers, and a frieze of uraei wearing sun discs, with ankh , was and neb panels below, and another panel of falcon-headed deities similar to above, the vertical panels on either side of these scenes showing alternate djed and tyet -symbols, mounted 11½ x 7¼in. (29.2cm. x 18.5cm.) max.
