A LARGE AND IMPORTANT SILVER-GILT CLOISONNÉ, CHAMPLEVÉ AND EN PLEIN ENAMEL TRIPTYCH MARKED P. OVCHINNIKOV WITH THE IMPERIAL WARRANT, MOSCOW, 1899-1908 Of ogee arch form, surmounted by a cross, the hinged covers opening to reveal an icon of St Nicholas, flanked by the Mother of God and Christ Pantocrator, all within lavishly decorated mounts with shaded cloisonné enamel, with varicolour foliage and geometric motives, the cover similarly enamelled with a cross and scrolling foliage within foliate borders, the top decorated with a champlevé and en plein enamelled image of Christ, the reverse dated and inscribed in Russian ‘[To] Our former commander / much-esteemed / Nikolai Ivanovich / in memory of the bright days under his commandment / of the Division and as a blessing for his future / work for the good of the country / From the Ranks of the 31st Infantry Division / 1912-1914’, with a suspension loop, marked throughout 17¾ in. (45 cm.) high 127.74 oz. (3,973 gr.) gross
