A LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD, AMARANTH AND SYCAMORE MARQUETRY COMMODE BY NICHOLAS PETIT, CIRCA 1765-70 The white grey-veined marble top above a breakfront case with three scrolled inlaid frieze drawers and two long drawers sans traverse inlaid with lozenge pattern at the center and flower bouquets to the sides, the rounded angles on cabriole legs terminating in scrolling acanthus-cast sabots, stamped 'PETIT' and 'JME', the marble top probably an old replacement, remounted, marked '6407 London', with an blue bordered ink label '10476 Louis XV Sgd Petit Commode' 34 ¾ in. (88.2 cm.) high, 50 ½ in. (128.2 cm.) wide, 23.5 in. (59.7 cm.) deep
