A MAGNIFICENT IMPERIAL FAMILLE ROSE 'DEER' VASE, HU UNDERGLAZE BLUE QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-95) Of archaistic bronze shape with a broad pear-shaped body on a splayed ring foot, flanked by a pair of stylised dragon handles in iron-red highlighted in gilt, masterly painted in vivid enamels with a continuous riverscape inhabited by a herd of deer, comprising bucks, does and their young with reddish-brown fur, spotted hide and dappled white coats, grazing, gambolling and resting beside gnarled pine trees, lush vegetation and splendid rock formations, the interior glazed turquoise below the gilt mouth rim 17¾ in. (45 cm.) high
