A Model Of The U.S. Frigate CONSTITUTION John Flannery, (American, circa 1945-1950) A very fine scratch built model, the hull built up from the solid with black and white painted topsides and a copper painted bottom. the deck of the model is planked in basswood. The model is fitted with numerous details, which include: billet head, anchors, pin and fife rails, stove pipe, cannons on sleds and carriages, ships boats stacked amidships with hoisting lines attached, deck gratings, windlass, skylights, binnacle, double ship's wheel, ships boats on davits, cleats and rudder. The model is very well rigged with standing and running rigging which include: forestays, ratlines, backstays, intermediate stays, jack lines, halyards and topping lifts, bracing lines, sheets, and other rigging details. The model is fitted with a complete suit of linen sails which include jibs, staysails, square sails, stun'sails and spanker sail. The model is displayed on a pair of wood cradles in maple framed glass case that sits on a stand with three drawers and a book shelf. 45 x 18 x 55 in. (114.3 x 45.7 x 139.7 cm.) Cased dimensions on stand.
