A PAIR OF 16-BORE FLINTLOCK OFFICER'S PISTOLS SIGNED JAMES, LONDON, CIRCA 1815-20 With octagonal to round sighted barrels each with full length sighting flat signed 'LONDON' and with inlaid line at the breech and lined touch-hole, engraved tangs each with raised ramp cut with a notch to form the rear-sight, engraved flat bolted locks each signed 'JAMES' and with pierced cock, semi-rainproof pan and roller, walnut three-quarter stocks each with chequered butt, engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, horn fore-end caps, and stirrup ramrods (one stock with insert repair beneath lock, iron parts discoloured, some pitting to barrels, one cock not holding on sear), Birmingham proof marks 7¾in. (19.7cm.) barrels (2)
