A PAIR OF GREEK GOLD EARRINGS HELLENISTIC PERIOD, CIRCA LATE 4TH-3RD CENTURY B.C. Each with a pan-shaped disk, the upturned edge decorated with beaded wire, the disk centered by a rosette, the petals rimmed with beaded wire, the central rosette with the petals rimmed with beaded wire and centered by a granule, each with a hooked wire on the reverse formed into a loop supporting a solid-cast figure of Eros, the pair antithetically posed, with one leg advanced, their separately-made wings outstretched, depicted nude, with a baldric formed of beaded wire over one shoulder, each holding a separately-made mantle across his back in one raised hand and one lowered hand, a separately-made kithara in the raised hand of each, the hair with the characteristic central plait Each: 1½ in.
