DAOGUANG SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-50)
A PAIR OF RARE FAMILLE ROSE BOWLS AND COVERS DAOGUANG SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-50) Each bowl finely potted with steep flaring sides, the exterior delicately painted with a butterfly in flight above a flowering and fruiting gourd vine detailed with two ripe fruit, one of which with its burst skin revealing red seeds, growing beside bamboo sprays, the branches turning over the lipped rim of the bowl to a continuous pattern in the interior with a further butterfly in flight, the covers similarly painted with the same design on the domed exterior and underside and also bearing Daoguang underglaze blue seal marks to the interior of the finials 4¼ in. (11 cm.) diam. (2)
