A Palm Flower and Fish Fossil, Eocene, Green River Formation, Wyoming, United States, the impressive plate consisting of a fossil palm flower which has been finely preserved and meticulously uncovered, accented by an ancient herring fossil with well defined detail, the specimen provides a compelling window into this ancient aquatic scene. NOTE: The color of this specimen has been enhanced to improve contrast. 157.50 x 50.80 x 3.20 cm. Estimate $ 7,000-9,000 Property from the Estate of Gerard L. Cafesjian, Naples, Florida The plate shows professional repair to stabilize a fracture to the matrix cutting across the plate on the diagonal at approximately 2/3 of the way up from the base. The fossil palm has been enhanced with applied pigment to the existing fossil imprint.
