IN CHIPPENDALE STYLE, POSSIBLY BY FRANCIS BRODIE, C.1760-70the moulded frame carved with leaves and scrolls, with a padded drop-in back and seat, on cabriole legs with fan-fluted decoration and knurled toes

Catalogue Note
The term 'Raeburn' is used colloquially in Scotland to define a type of armchair known as 'Gainsborough' in England. The term derives from the name of the Scottish 18th-century portraitist Sir Henry Raeburn (1756-1823).
