A SILVER SOUP TUREEN AND TWO SAUCEBOATS, FROM THE JOHN CARTER BROWN SERVICE MARK OF SHREVE, BROWN & CO., BOSTON, CIRCA 1859 Each shaped oval, on circular foot with four beaded supports, with horned mask ring handles, the soup tureen engraved on one side with a coat-of-arms, on the other side engraved with presentation inscription JOHN CARTER & SOPHIA AUGUSTA BROWN June 23rd 1859 , and with silver-plated liner; the sauceboats of conforming design, the domed covers surmounted by beaded ring handles with scroll drops, each engraved with a crest and motto and J.C. & S.A.B. JUNE 23rd 1859 , each marked under base The soup tureen 16 3/8 in. long; 130 oz. (3)
