Krider, Philadephia, circa 1870, retailer's mark of Bailey & Co., Philadelphia; the soup tureen maker's mark of Meriden Britannia Co., Connecticut, circa 1870 The tea urn on four everted feet, the pierced base concealing the oil burner, the lower body with spigot, the handle cast as a dog, the body with Greek key and beading, one side engraved with monogram E , the handles with ivory insulators and leaf joins, the domed cover with beading, surmounted by an urn finial, marked under base ; the soup tureen oval, on a molded spreading base, with Greek key borders, one side engraved with monogram NAJ , the handles cast as steer heads, the domed cover applied with classical medallions, surmounted by a finial cast as a steer, marked under base The tea urn 18in. tall, gross weight 82oz. 10dwt.; the soup tureen 17in. long Krider, Peter L.
