A small gilt lacquered bronze votive plaque Japan or Korea, 16th century Depicting Amitabha Buddha seated in a meditative pose on an open lotus blossom, his hands joined in dhyanamudra, his outer garment falling in graceful folds from his shoulders and partially revealing his sash-tied undergarment, the concave surfaces of the reverse also cast with two tenons projecting for attachment to a support that is no longer preserved. 4 1/2in (11.5cm) height of plaque 6 1/4in (16cm) height including display stand (2).
