A SMALL PALE GREENISH-WHITE AND PALE BROWN JADE FIGURE OF A BIRD MING DYNASTY (1368-1644) The figure is shown in a recumbent position with slender legs carved on the underside and head turned to rest on the back. The closed wings and tail are carved with feathers and pierced vertically for stringing. The brownish color appears to be alteration. Together with a white and brown jade lingzhi -form brush rest, 17th/18th century, which is carved in the round as an openwork cluster of ten lingzhi fungus heads borne on a gnarled stem. The stone is of pale greenish-white color with some soft brown color at one end. 3 1/8 and 4½ in. (8 and 11.4 cm.) long, one wood stand (2)
