A VERY RARE GILT-METAL EMELLISHED 'RIGHT-SPIRALING' RITUAL CONCH SHELL QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY The white conch shell is embellished at the mouth rim with two large stylised leaves, each detailed with fine incised radiating veins to the jagged flame-like edges. The head of the shell is attached with a gilt-metal circular mount, cast around the rounded sides to depict a fine network of beads under the bud finial designed with a band of lotus lappets surrounding an apex aperture. 5 1/2 in.
