A VERY RARE IMPERIAL COMMEMORATIVE GILT-BRONZE INCENSE BURNER AND COVER
A VERY RARE IMPERIAL COMMEMORATIVE GILT-BRONZE INCENSE BURNER AND COVER QIANLONG CAST SIX-CHARACTER MARK, CIRCA 1790 Of cylindrical form, superbly cast around the main body in standard kaishu script with a lengthy inscription composed by the Qianlong Emperor under the title, Yuzhi Bazheng Maonian Zhibao , 'Recorded by Imperial Command, A Treasure to Commemorate An Evaluated Octogenarian' and concluding with the characters, Chen Zheng Rui Jingshu , 'Respectfully written by your servant, Zheng Rui', and two seals of Zheng Rui, the domed cover pierced with a central stylised shou character encircled by a band of twelve shou characters, within keyfret borders, the reign mark cast in relief to the base 9 5/8 in. (24.5 cm.) high
