Die schöne Kontinentkarte von Europa zusammen mit drei Gesamtkarten von Frankreich, Italien und Griechenland. Kartographische Quellen für die Karte von Europa (hier in der zweiten Fassung mit der Bezeichnung Africae pars in Kursiva und "of superior engraving quality" (Van den Broecke)) waren u. a. G. Mercator, Olaus Magnus Jenkinson, Gastaldi, Apianus u. a. Bei der Karte Galliae regni Potentiss: nova descriptio handelt es sich um die früheste von drei Frankreichkarten von Ortelius; die Karte von Italien liegt in der zweiten Fassung vor (von 2) mit den Meeresnamen in Kursiva. Die Karte von Griechenland mit deutschem Rückentext (Ausgabe 1572-73), die übrigen drei Karten mit latein. Text (1584-1601). Jeweils mit schöner Beschlagwerkkartusche und maritimem Beiwerk. - ZUSTAND: Zwischen Glas gerahmt (Vorderseite mit Passepartout), nicht geöffnet. Die Europakarte leicht gebräunt, Mittelfalte verso breit verstärkt und dadurch leicht leimschattig, mit 1 hinterl. Randeinriß; die Karte von Frankreich unten mit kl. hinterlegtem Einriß der Mittelfalte und rechts schmal verstärktem unteren Rand, die Karte von Griechenland an den Seitenrändern bis an die Platte beschnitten und angerändert. The map of Europe slightly tanned, centrefold rebacked and therefore slightly discolored, with small rebacked marginal tear; the map of France with small rebacked tear to bottom of centrefold, lower margin slightly rebacked on the right hand; the map of Greece trimmed to platemark and remargined on the right and left sides. Overall a decorative set of maps in uniform frames.
